What Cosmetic Dentistry Services Do You Offer?

At Medina Dental Arts, we proudly provide cosmetic services that are designed for aesthetic purposes and as part of restorative treatment. We offer cosmetic solutions that repair and replace teeth, restore function, and rejuvenate gum health.

Our cosmetic dental treatments include:

When it comes to helping you achieve a beautiful and healthy smile, we also believe in providing treatments that are safe for the body. We use amalgam-free composite resins and porcelain materials that produce stunning results. These materials blend with the smile and mimic natural tooth enamel, allowing you to enjoy a smile that is beautiful as it as healthy.

Which Cosmetic Treatment is Right for Me?

This is why we always begin care with detailed consultations, taking the time to get to know you individually. During this time, we encourage you to ask questions as well as voice your concerns and expectations for treatment. We take a series of digital x-rays , which help us determine the health of your teeth, roots, gums, and jaw.

These images are essential for detecting concerns before they develop into serious health issues. If any issues are found, we can remove decay and perform gum disease treatments as part of your treatment plan.

When creating your treatment plan, we check your lifestyle habits, such as diet and anything else that could potentially impact your smile. Our dentist also takes the time to analyze your natural features, such as skin tone, eye color, and how your lips move when you smile and speak.

Comprehensive Teeth Whitening

Healthy, functioning teeth can appear dull from surface stains. Professional teeth whitening methods use specially formulated whitening solutions to provide you with safe, effective, and stunning results. In some cases, we can brighten your smile by up to eight shades in as little as an hour!

We provide comfortable, in-office treatment with Philips ZOOM and convenient, take-home teeth whitening with Pola and Opalescence Go™.

What Does In-Office Teeth Whitening Involve?

male patient getting teeth whitening in officeChairside whitening typically takes an hour to complete. We begin treatment making sure you are comfortable, covering your lips and gums, leaving only your teeth exposed. Our dentist or a trusted member of our team applies the ZOOM whitening gel directly and evenly to the surfaces of your teeth. We use a special curing light to activate the whitening solution safely, working to break up discoloration and staining. This process is repeated in increments of three, each lasting about 15 minutes. Once complete, we immediately apply a sensitivity-reducing paste or gel, helping you enjoy your stunning results even more!

What Does Take-Home Whitening Include?

woman holding take home whitening kitTake-Home whitening allows you to brighten your smile to your desired shade in the convenience and comfort of your own home. A quick visit to our office is needed so we can take impressions of your teeth and gums. We send your impressions to a trusted lab that creates your whitening trays to fit perfectly. Customizing your trays helps create even whitening results.

Once ready, our team invites you back to our office so you can receive your kit. Each kit includes several syringes that contain the Pola or Opalescence Go solution as well as your trays. We provide you with instructions on how to use your professional kit and properly brighten your smile at home.

With this treatment method, you simply apply the formula to your tray and place it in on your teeth. The whitening gel disperses evenly throughout, making for easy and comfortable treatment.

Why are My Teeth Stained?

Teeth are under constant use from daily biting and chewing and become stained over time. Common causes for tooth discoloration include:

  • Dark foods (berries, curry, tomato sauces, etc.)
  • Dark beverages (coffee, tea, red wine, etc.)
  • Smoking and tobacco use
  • Poor oral hygiene
  • Age

Severe staining can be the result of an injury, genetics, certain medications, and advanced gum disease. In these cases, this kind of discoloration may not respond to teeth whitening. However, other cosmetic treatments, such as porcelain veneers, can be an excellent solution for you!

What is Gum Disease?

woman showing gumsGum disease is an oral infection most commonly caused by the toxins and bacteria found in dental plaque. The condition attacks the gums, ligaments, and soft tissues responsible for holding teeth in place. Known as gingivitis in the earliest stages, gum infection can be treated successfully. However, the more it progresses, the higher the risk to your teeth, gums, bone, and oral health. Bacteria from gum disease can reach other areas of the body in severe cases, causing complications with heart disease, diabetes, and pregnancy. Common signs and symptoms of gum disease include tender gums that bleed during routine brushing and flossing, constant bad breath, and teeth that appear long and loose.

Before cosmetic treatment can occur, we will evaluate your gums and treat any signs of gum disease to build a healthy foundation for optimal results.

How Do You Help Treat Gum Disease?

When you have gum disease, you deserve professional and effective treatment. At Medina Dental Arts, our team provides scaling and root planing and continued maintenance for treating gum disease. Tooth scaling involves removing bacterial plaque and hardened tartar from the surfaces of your teeth above and below your gumline. Root planing cleans the roots of your teeth, smoothing them to encourage tissue reattachment and proper healing.

Severe gum disease is the number one cause for tooth loss. If you have missing teeth due to gum infection, we can provide you with a beautiful and functional smile once more with quality restorations supported by dental implants.

Renewing Your Smile with Dental Implant Restorations

Mature woman hugging her husbandMissing teeth pose a threat to your oral health as well as your smile’s beauty. Whatever the cause for your tooth loss, we are here to help! Our team provides ways to replace missing teeth and complete your smile with beautiful restorations supported by dental implants.

Dental implants serve as artificial tooth roots, helping restore function and strength, and preserve facial features. Continue reading to find out more about our implant-supported restorations and to discover which may be best for you!

Implant-Supported Crowns

Implant crowns are similar to traditional crowns as they are both designed to look, function, and feel like a natural, healthy tooth. The difference is how they are supported. Traditional dental crowns encompass the remains of a natural tooth, helping preserve its structure. Crowns supported by implants are attached to one implant post to help replace a single missing tooth completely.

These lifelike restorations are crafted from beautiful and durable porcelain, allowing you to enjoy a tooth that blends seamlessly with the rest of your smile.

Fixed Bridges

Bridges are ideal for replacing two or more missing teeth in a row. While traditional bridges use natural teeth on either side of the gap for support, implant bridges use two implant posts for lasting security. These restorations are crafted to feel, look, and function exactly like your beautiful, natural teeth. In addition to renewing smile aesthetics, bridges also help keep neighboring teeth in place and promote a proper bite.

Dentures

Partial dentures consist of multiple artificial teeth made from lifelike porcelain. These teeth rest on a base of pink, acrylic material designed to mimic natural gum tissue. Partial dentures typically use metal clasps attached to natural teeth and can also be supported by implants for lasting security.

Complete dentures are designed to restore an entire arch of missing teeth in the upper and lower jaws or both. These restorations contain a full set of artificial, porcelain teeth resting on pink acrylic gum base. Complete dentures can use four to eight dental implants to revive your smile after tooth loss.
